About the Brewery
Kona Brewing Company was founded in Kailua-Kona by a father and son, Cameron Healy and Spoon Khalsa, in the spring of 1994. The company is dedicated to producing best-selling craft beers that reflect the spirit, culture and beauty of Hawaii. It produces an approximate number of 10 styles of beer on a regular basis. These are brewed sustainably by using solar energy system (roof-mounted photovoltaic system), which accounts for the 60% offset in the company’s electricity usage. The company brews more than a dozen of beers all year round, which are available in all 50 states. It also produces a limited batch of beers, specifically brewed in Hawaii. Since water is an important component of all Kona Brewing Company’s beers, the water is treated for impurities and added with minerals in order to mimic the freshwater in Hawaii.

Kona Brewing’s Longboard Island Lager has a light hay hue. Upon first pour it has a small frothy head with a grainy light hops aroma. Overall I taste the grain with a nice malt to it as well. Overall it’s a very drinkable beer. Mahalo Kona for brewing this one!
