Beer Reviews:
Tobin’s Review 3 out of 5
Abita’s Strawberry Lager has a dark straw hue with a nice white head and strawberry notes on the nose. The beer is a soft light lager with a subtle hint of strawberry. It is not overly fruity as it has a nice light hint of fruit. My only qualm with this beer is it tends to taste a little watery at times.

Abita Purple Haze is a lager brewed with real raspberries which are added after filtration. It is brewed with pilsner and wheat malts and Vanguard hops. The berries add a fruity aroma, tartly sweet taste and a subtle purple color and haze, in which you might even see fruit pulp in the beer.

Fruit Beers are best served in a Tulip, which is a stemmed glass shaped like a tulip.

About the Brewery
The Abita Brewing Company was founded in the Abita Springs, LA, which is 30 miles north of New Orleans. In year one, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer and by 1994, they outgrew the original site (now their 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand. The brewery now brews more than 151,000 barrels of beer and 9,100 barrels of root beer. Their lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality, and has been recognized nationally as one of the top craft breweries in the United States.

Abita Purple Haze has a nice purplish hue. The beer pops with a super fruity raspberry aroma and it’s followed by a nice fruit taste. While it is a fruit beer, it’s not overly sweet or overpowering- as the beer has a nice subtle hint of fruit. It is a great refreshing beer and even Jimi Hendrix would be singing this tune!

Tobin’s Review 3 out of 5
Abita Amber has a nice rich ‘amber’ color. The beer has a deep aroma and a creamy caramel flavor, with a little hops on the finish. This used to be one of my favorite beers, but it’s not as complex as what I currently tend to enjoy- however it’s still an enjoyable beer.

Description:
Abita Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with pale/ caramel/ chocolate malts, Willamette hops and German Ale yeast. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate, toffee-like flavor. Turbodog began as a specialty ale, but has gained a huge, loyal following and has become one of Abita’s flagship brews.

Glass to Use:
Brown ales are best served in a 16oz. beer glass.

Beer Reviews:
Tobin’s Review 3 out of 5
Abita Turbodog has dark chocolatey color and the nose of the beer has a chocolate aroma. The beer is heavier and tastes like a cross between a Stout and a Porter. It has a nice chocolate taste and is much smoother than a heavier Stout. Overall it is a good beer.
