About the Brewery
Smog City Brewing was founded by Jonathan and Laurie Porter in 2011. The husband and wife team began brewing their beer at the Tustin Brewing Company. This enabled them to be able to personally distribute their beers to restaurants and bars throughout LA County. The following year they purchased their own brewing equipment and opened their brewery taproom in Torrance in 2013.

Smog City has three locations (2 in Torrance and 1 in Long Beach) and has fast become a household name in Southern California.

About the Brewery
Brouwerij Van Ertvelde was founded in 1874 when Jean Baptiste De Bruin started up De Peer brewery in Ervelde. After Jean’s death, his wife would run the brewery, followed by her nephew Jozef. After World War I, Jozef would pass the brewery over to his son-in-law Paul Van Steenberge. Brouweij Van Steenberge has had a rich history and continues to produce sought after beers!

Golden Road’s Dodgers Blonde Ale has a nice hay hue, small compact head and a slight grain malt aroma. The beer is light with grain flavors and a smooth creamy light malt finish. While the Dodgers are my favorite baseball team, the beer earned the 4, not just because the can rocks;)! And if you don’t like the Dodgers, pour it in a glass and just enjoy the beer, as it’s a good blonde ale.

Kona Kanaha Blonde Ale is a light beer with a little haze to it. The head on this beer is small and it’s very fragrant. Unfortunately it’s not very good, as it tastes like a hairy fart. It starts out smooth but the hops clashes in this beer and it’s definitely not along the lines of a blonde ale. It honestly tastes like a really watered down version of an IPA. This is a definite miss by a brewery that usually produces hits.

The company purchased the former SLO Brewing Company and moved to Paso Robles in 2001. In 2015, the Belgian brewery Duvel Moortgat purchased Firestone Walker, which will help them further grow their business.

Firestone Walker is California’s 4th largest craft brewery, and in 2014 they were the 16th largest craft brewery in the US. They have locations in Paso Robles, Buellton and Venice. Paso Robles is the main brewery, Buellton makes eccentric wild ales and Venice specializes in R&D beers.
